With its strategic location and Long Thanh International Airport, Long Thanh Ward is implementing numerous key projects, especially transport infrastructure, requiring extensive site clearance.

Long Thanh Ward has handed over about 98% of the site area for the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh Expressway Expansion Project.

Recognizing site clearance as a key and important task, Long Thanh Ward has mobilized maximum resources to accelerate progress.

Efforts to Complete a Large Workload

The Upgrade and Expansion of Road 25B is one of the key projects of Dong Nai City, aimed at improving transport connectivity to Long Thanh Airport. The project passes through Long Thanh and Nhon Trach wards, with Long Thanh Ward responsible for recovering nearly 7.6 hectares of land. To date, the ward has handed over more than 7.5 hectares, reaching over 99% of the total area required. In addition, the local authorities, in coordination with relevant agencies, have paid more than VND 61 billion in compensation and support to 145 out of 191 affected cases.

For the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh Expressway Expansion Project on the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway, Long Thanh Ward has so far handed over 98% of the total site area of approximately 3.9 hectares within the project area.

In mid-July 2026, Dong Nai City commenced the Upgrade and Expansion of Road 769 Project. The section passing through Long Thanh Ward is approximately 8.1 kilometers long. To serve the project, the ward must recover more than 38 hectares of land from 362 households, individuals, and organizations. During the site clearance process, Long Thanh Ward, in coordination with relevant agencies, completed the issuance of land recovery notices and inventory of the entire affected area. It has also completed verification of land origins for nearly 99% of the area. To date, nearly 20 hectares of site area have been handed over, reaching more than 51% of the total area required for construction.

Mr. Le Hoang Son, Chairman of the Long Thanh Ward People's Committee, said that with numerous projects, including many key projects of the central government and the city, being implemented in the area, Long Thanh Ward must handle a very large workload related to site clearance. Meanwhile, the number of officials and civil servants handling compensation work remains insufficient. In addition, newly assigned personnel lack experience in processing compensation documents and are not yet able to fully cover and understand the large area, resulting in delays in verifying land origins and handling complicated dossiers. However, recognizing site clearance as a key priority, Long Thanh Ward has given maximum priority to personnel for this task. In addition to accelerating document processing, the local authorities have also established mobilization teams to encourage residents to hand over sites early for project construction.

According to the Long Thanh Ward People's Committee, in addition to key projects, the locality is continuing compensation, support, resettlement, and site clearance work for 10 state-funded projects and 7 non-state-funded projects.

Building Public Consensus

Alongside projects currently undergoing compensation and site clearance, Long Thanh Ward is also preparing to launch this work for new projects, including several key and important projects of the city.

Recently, Long Thanh Ward organized public meetings to disseminate information and collect opinions on the land recovery plans for projects extending the Ben Thanh–Suoi Tien metro line to the city's administrative center and Long Thanh Airport through the area, as well as the drainage project outside the boundary of Long Thanh Airport (Phase 1).

In mid-August 2026, at a meeting with the Standing Committee of the Long Thanh Ward Party Committee on the area's socio-economic development, national defense and security during the first seven months of 2026, key tasks for the remaining months of the year, and progress on major projects around Long Thanh Airport, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Vo Tan Duc said that Long Thanh Ward holds a particularly important position in the development space of Dong Nai City and the southern key economic region. Long Thanh Ward serves as a gateway directly connecting to Long Thanh Airport and Ho Chi Minh City through major transport corridors. “With its existing and developing transport system, Long Thanh Ward has highly favorable conditions for developing an airport city, an international logistics and commercial service center, as well as smart, high-quality urban areas,” Mr. Vo Tan Duc emphasized.

As Phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Vo Tan Duc asked the locality to accelerate compensation and site clearance for key projects serving airport connectivity. Site clearance must be identified as a particularly important political task for the entire political system. Accordingly, the locality should focus on completing land recovery, compensation, support, resettlement, and site handover according to the schedules of key projects. “In site clearance work, it is necessary to effectively carry out public outreach, focus on dialogue and explanation with residents to build consensus, thereby accelerating implementation,” Mr. Vo Tan Duc requested.
