In recent years, Dong Nai has undergone rapid urbanization. From complying with traffic laws and maintaining environmental sanitation to behaving appropriately in public places and showing a friendly, civilized attitude in communication, all these factors contribute to the image of an urban area.

In the city’s central streets and localities such as Dau Giay, Long Thanh, Binh Phuoc and Dong Xoai, positive changes in public awareness have become increasingly noticeable in recent years. Many people have developed the habit of disposing of waste in designated places, refraining from using portable speakers for karaoke that disturbs public order, obeying traffic lights and joining efforts to preserve urban aesthetics.

Nguyen Van Thanh, a resident of Tran Bien Ward, said that as Dong Nai becomes a modern city, each resident must also change their awareness and behavior. “A civilized urban area cannot rely only on State investment in infrastructure; it must begin with the awareness of every resident. If people simply stop littering, stop encroaching on roads and sidewalks, and behave politely in public places, the city’s appearance will change significantly,” Thanh shared.

Sharing the same view, Nguyen Thi Nhan, a resident of Tam Hiep Ward, said the human factor is the “soul” of a modern urban area. “Visitors to Dong Nai City do not only look at whether the roads are beautiful; they also feel the way local people behave. If residents are friendly, community-minded, and the environment is clean and beautiful, it will certainly leave a good impression,” Nhan said.

In fact, in recent times, movements in Dong Nai to build cultural lifestyles, cultured families and civilized residential areas have produced many positive results, in line with the goal of improving residents’ quality of life.

According to Le Thi Ngoc Loan, member of the City Party Committee and Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as Dong Nai enters a new stage of development, the requirement to build a culture of civilized urban conduct has become increasingly important. A modern city must go hand in hand with civilized people who are responsible toward the community and the living environment. This is a core factor for sustainable development.

More cultural spaces are needed for residents

In addition to community awareness, many residents believe that a modern city needs a synchronized system of cultural institutions to improve people’s spiritual life. Along with rapid urbanization, demand for recreation, community activities, learning and skills development, especially among young people, is growing. However, in many areas, cultural activity spaces, parks and public playgrounds remain insufficient.

Tran Van Chau, a resident of Dau Giay Ward, expressed his hope that Dong Nai City will invest in more parks, libraries, cultural houses and youth activity areas in the coming time. “I hope the city will have more spaces for young people to study, develop their artistic and sports talents, and build life skills. If there are more community activity centers and creative playgrounds, young people will have a healthy environment to develop themselves,” Chau suggested.

“In the journey toward becoming a modern city, Dong Nai needs not only large-scale projects, but also the building of an image of friendly, responsible and civilized residents. Meanwhile, Nguyen Phuong Lieu, a resident of Tran Bien Ward, said that urban development should not focus only on commercial projects, but should pay greater attention to public spaces serving residents. “Older people need places to exercise, children need safe playgrounds, and workers need spaces to relax after working hours. A livable city must create a good spiritual and cultural living environment for its people,” Lieu shared.

Le Thi Ngoc Loan said that in recent times, Dong Nai has paid attention to investing in many cultural and sports institutions from the city level to grassroots levels. At the same time, it has promoted socialization to attract investment resources for projects serving the community. Building a modern city is not only about economic development, but also about improving people’s spiritual life and creating a healthy cultural environment. A modern city needs its own cultural identity, a friendly living environment, and civilized people. When residents live in a positive cultural environment with more community activity spaces, their awareness of proper conduct and sense of social responsibility will also be enhanced.
