At a seminar themed "Accompanying the Open Sea - Embracing New Opportunities" in May 2026, Nguyen Ngoc Thuc, Head of the Trade Management Division under the Dong Nai City Department of Industry and Trade, shared: "Dong Nai is the 7th city in the country, possessing highly favorable foundational conditions. It ranks among the top nationwide in economic scale, features expansive industrial parks, hosts a large base of import-export enterprises, and benefits from heavily funded, synchronized strategic infrastructure. Key projects such as Long Thanh International Airport, the expressway system, inter-regional ring roads, and the logistics corridor connecting the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster are gradually shaping a complete infrastructure network for the region."

Within this development strategy, logistics is identified as an essential infrastructure pillar of a modern urban center. Developing new logistics gateways, promoting multimodal transport, and building a synchronized logistics ecosystem not only serve immediate economic development goals but also constitute a crucial component in the roadmap to elevate Dong Nai's future development.

"The Department of Industry and Trade will continue to collaborate closely with the local import-export business community, logistics enterprises, shipping lines, and freight forwarders to foster a more modern, synchronized, and efficient logistics ecosystem in the near future," Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuc added.

Nguyen Duy Hung, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Logistics Association, remarked: "The formation of an optimized supply chain logistics ecosystem will create conditions to propel the development of port systems and logistics to embrace new opportunities in Dong Nai, especially as Dong Nai has become a city with an increasingly advanced infrastructure system. The locality should leverage the advantages of the Dong Nai River system to develop logistics centers, ports, and inland container depots, including Phuoc An Port—the largest seaport in Dong Nai. Concurrently, the locality needs to enhance linkages in port system development and accelerate administrative reforms in logistics and import-export sectors, thereby creating optimal conditions to streamline costs within the commodity supply chain, aiming toward a professional, modern, and sustainable local logistics community."

Elevating the commodity supply chain

According to experts, to promote port and logistics service integration, localities—including Dong Nai—need solutions that advance science and technology, strengthen port service chain linkages, support transportation, develop human resources, and accelerate green transition and sustainable development amidst deepening global integration. In particular, developing green logistics is an inevitable trend and a vital criterion for evaluating the sustainable development of the entire logistics sector.

In the context of highly volatile and heavily restructured global supply chains, developing new, modern, flexible, and efficient connection nodes has become an imperative requirement. With its strategic location in the Dong Nai region and a synchronized planning orientation for transport and logistics infrastructure, Phuoc An Port is identified as a key link in the Southern regional seaport network and supply chain.
