Automation and digital transformation are becoming key levers that help many enterprises in Dong Nai achieve revenue breakthroughs, expand markets, and enhance competitiveness. In response to the need to renew the growth model, Dong Nai is placing special emphasis on the development of science and technology enterprises.

Automation and digital transformation have helped Dai Hoang Kim Automation Machinery Manufacturing Joint Stock Company reduce its workforce by 50%.

The city has issued various support mechanisms and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles, enabling production facilities to develop toward high-tech and sustainable models.

Revenue Breakthroughs Driven by Technology Application in Production

Dai Hoang Kim Automation Machinery Manufacturing Joint Stock Company in Binh Tan Commune is one of the few Vietnamese enterprises capable of independently designing, manufacturing, and distributing cashew processing machinery systems. To become a science and technology enterprise, the company has carried out digital transformation across its operation and production lines, providing nearly fully automated equipment and mechanical component solutions for cashew processing enterprises nationwide. Notably, its hard cashew shelling equipment system is designed with a capacity of 1-1.2 tons of raw materials per hour, helping cashew processing facilities reduce labor from around 100 workers to only a few, while production costs are just one-tenth of previous manual methods.

Mr. Vu Van Binh, Technical Director of Dai Hoang Kim, said that digital transformation in each stage and process has helped the company reduce operating costs. Previously, 50 workers were required for one machine shift, but now only two workers are needed while maintaining equivalent output.

Having owned a utility solution patent for its cashew processing system since 2019, Dai Hoang Kim has been continuously investing in production process automation technology, while expanding its factory scale with investment capital reaching hundreds of billions of VND. At the same time, the company is researching and developing more advanced and exclusive technology products to serve the cashew processing industry in Dong Nai and across the country.

Mr. Van Viet Duc, Deputy General Director of Dai Hoang Kim, shared that automation and digital transformation helped the company achieve revenue of VND 150 billion in 2025. The company has identified the need to continue leveraging its potential and strengths in mechanical engineering and machinery manufacturing, focusing on researching, designing, and producing new product lines to meet the needs of the cashew industry in Dong Nai and nationwide.

At KINOKO Long Khanh Import-Export Company Limited, robotic arms are replacing most manual work in stages such as jar filling, inoculation, and surface processing. In the past, producing around 20,000 mushroom jars each morning required up to 10 workers; now, only two people are needed to operate the automated machinery system.

Ms. Nguyen Dieu Linh, Sales Director of KINOKO Long Khanh Import-Export Company Limited, said that the company’s mushroom production facility includes multiple areas such as inoculation rooms, incubation rooms, packaging areas, and harvesting areas. Each type of mushroom requires a different cultivation room temperature. Production stages are supported by robots and machinery that replace human labor. The use of high-tech robots also helps the enterprise create mushroom products with consistent standards and quality. In addition, it optimizes labor costs amid the current shortage of personnel.

In cashew production and processing, Gia Bao Group Joint Stock Company in Binh Phuoc Ward has identified digital transformation as a strategic pillar for creating productivity and added value for the cashew industry. To meet enterprise development requirements in the digital era, the company has focused on investing in modern machinery, shifting cashew products from manual roasting to deep processing, oil-free roasting, and diversified nutritional products with a closed production process. At the same time, it is developing a young workforce proficient in technology and artificial intelligence to operate and promote products on digital platforms.

Mr. Tran Van Son, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gia Bao Group Joint Stock Company, said: “The company’s cashew products are now available in several countries and supermarket chains nationwide. Recently, the company invested USD 6.5 million to build an additional Ba Tu Binh Phuoc agricultural and food processing factory. We aim to build a specialty cashew brand for Dong Nai City. Therefore, mastering technology, achieving production autonomy, and pursuing a sustainable development strategy based on the farm - factory - food ecosystem is the strategy the enterprise is building.”

Policies Need to Be Practical and Timely

From the stories of the above enterprises, it can be seen that science and technology, along with digital transformation, are becoming new growth drivers. Not only large enterprises but also small and medium-sized enterprises, startups, and innovation-driven enterprises are viewing digital transformation as an internal force for breakthrough development.

Dong Nai is strengthening enterprise connectivity, proactively reviewing and inviting potential enterprises to participate in direct guidance programs, and enhancing connections between enterprises, institutes, universities, and science and technology organizations to support research, technology transfer, and product development. In addition, the city has introduced multiple support mechanisms to remove difficulties and obstacles, enabling production facilities to develop toward high-tech and sustainable models.

However, many small and medium-sized enterprises still have limited access to support packages. Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Chi, owner of Viet Trung Bird’s Nest Facility in Binh Phuoc Ward, expressed her hope that state policies will become more in-depth, practical, accessible, and suitable for each business establishment. In particular, support is needed for digital transformation and product connectivity to reach wider markets. Only then can such policies create motivation for enterprises to innovate and strengthen their confidence in investing in research, technology transfer, and the application of science and technology in production and business.

“Removing barriers for science and technology enterprises to develop is considered an important requirement to strengthen the innovation ecosystem. The department is implementing many policies to develop more science and technology enterprises. After enterprises become science and technology enterprises, we have mechanisms to provide additional incentives, such as land incentives, tax incentives, and funding support for science and technology enterprises’ operations.”

Mr. Tran Van Son said that in recent times, there have been many support policies from the central to local levels. However, small and medium-sized enterprises have still not been able to access them widely. In an increasingly competitive context, customers are also placing stricter requirements on product quality and efficiency. Enterprises that want to engage in industrial-scale production must apply modern technology. Therefore, in addition to enterprises’ own capacity, supportive and accompanying policies from state agencies are greatly needed.

In response to the need to renew the growth model and enhance the competitiveness of the economy, developing science and technology enterprises is an inevitable requirement. This is also an important solution for forming an innovation ecosystem and creating momentum for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development in Dong Nai during the 2026-2030 period. However, the entire city currently has only 17 science and technology enterprises, which is not yet commensurate with the locality’s development potential or the demand for technological innovation in production and business. Therefore, by 2030, Dong Nai aims to develop more than 70 science and technology enterprises.
