Recently, on May 20 and May 22, 2026, Dong Nai Technology University organized field trips to the Dong Nai City Historical Archives Center, creating opportunities for students from various disciplines to gain deeper insights into the formation and development history of Dong Nai through different periods. The activity attracted a large number of students from such majors as Travel and Tourism, Logistics, Restaurant and Hotel Management, Information Technology, Information Technology and Communications, Foreign Languages, Engineering, Economics and many other training fields of the University

In the context of Dong Nai entering a period of strong renewal, especially after officially becoming one of the centrally governed cities, the field trip held practical significance for students. Today, Dong Nai is known not only as a dynamic locality with strong development in economy, industry, infrastructure and urbanization, but also as a land rich in culture, history and heroic traditions. Amid this modern pace of development, looking back at the historical milestones of the locality helps the younger generation gain greater understanding, pride and responsibility toward the place where they are studying, living and growing.

“From Ancient Tran Bien to Today’s Dong Nai” – A place that preserves local memories

At the Dong Nai City Historical Archives Center, students visited an exhibition space featuring many documents, images and typical artifacts related to the formation, struggle, protection and development of Dong Nai through different periods. In particular, the archival exhibition “From Ancient Tran Bien to Today’s Dong Nai” introduces more than 200 documents, images and artifacts, including many rare and valuable materials such as Nguyen Dynasty woodblocks – a UNESCO-recognized World Documentary Heritage, maps, drawings and administrative documents associated with local history.

From documents and woodblocks to seals: history comes alive through each artifact

One of the highlights of the visit was the exhibition area of woodblocks, engraved blocks and seals related to the boundaries and place names of Bien Hoa – Dong Nai across historical periods. The engravings on the woodblocks are not only valuable ancient documents, but also evidence of the process of recording, managing and transmitting knowledge and memories of previous generations. Through this, students had the opportunity to approach a special form of heritage more closely and feel the endurance of history through each document, each seal and each image preserved to this day.

In addition, exhibition areas on agriculture, industry, transportation, education, healthcare, culture, society and digital transformation helped students better visualize Dong Nai’s comprehensive development journey. From historical documentary images to modern achievements, each exhibition space contributed to telling the story of a locality that has continuously transformed, while preserving traditions and proactively integrating and developing in the new era.

For students from different majors, the field trip brought many practical values. Students majoring in Travel and Tourism, Restaurant and Hotel Management gained more materials to understand and introduce local culture; students of Logistics and Economics gained a clearer view of the development foundation of a dynamic locality; students of Information Technology and Information Technology – Communications gained additional perspectives on the role of documents, data and digital transformation in preserving history; students of Foreign Languages gained more knowledge to promote the image of Dong Nai to domestic and international friends; and Engineering students gained greater appreciation for the process of construction, development and infrastructure building of the locality. This is a valuable source of material for students to apply in study, research, communications, tourism, services, technology, economics and many future career fields.

Students learn about the collection of seals, thereby gaining closer access to the administrative imprints and historical documents of the locality.

Through each documentary photo, each caption and each preserved story, students had the opportunity to look back on important stages in Dong Nai’s history. Images that seemed to belong to the past were vividly recreated, helping students understand that today’s development has been built upon the efforts, sacrifices and contributions of many previous generations.

Students attentively learn about documentary images, thereby gaining a clearer sense of Dong Nai’s journey of struggle, construction and development.

Fostering pride and responsibility among the younger generation

More than just a practical learning activity, the visit also brought students close and memorable moments. In the exhibition spaces, they listened, observed, exchanged ideas and captured beautiful images during their journey of learning about Dong Nai. The youthful and enthusiastic spirit of the students helped make the historical space feel closer to today’s generation
