Dong Nai City converges many of the country's leading characteristic economic strengths, with numerous sectors dubbed as the nation's "capitals," including industry, cultivation, and livestock.

Possessing a strategic location and synchronized infrastructure with the prominent advantage of connecting transport infrastructure, logistics, seaports, and international border gates (Long Thanh International Airport, Phuoc An Port, Hoa Lu International Border Gate), Dong Nai City is emerging as an important national growth pole.

The country's industrial "capital"

Dong Nai City has long been designated as the industrial "capital" of the country. Currently, Dong Nai has 89 planned industrial parks (IPs) with an area of over 39,000 hectares. Among them, 58 IPs have been established, and 44 IPs are operational, with an occupancy rate of 76%. Major IPs in the southern area of Dong Nai City have high lease rates, while IPs in the northern area of the city still possess ample room to welcome investors.

By possessing all 5 modes of transportation, including roadways, railways, inland waterways, maritime ports, and airways, Dong Nai is leveraging every advantage to become an international and domestic connection "hub" for investors coming to the city. To date, 51 countries and territories have invested in Dong Nai with a total investment capital of over 45 billion USD across more than 2,200 projects. In the field of domestic investment attraction, the entire city has a total registered investment capital of nearly 605 trillion VND with over 2,500 projects.

Dong Nai City aims to develop more new IPs, with an orientation toward attracting high-tech and future-trending industries.

Economic experts argue that Dong Nai is a land of great potential, featuring a diverse economic identity and a strong aspiration for development. In particular, the convergence of "capitals" across various economic sectors will help Dong Nai move toward becoming a modern, civilized, and livable urban center.

 

The "headquarters" of fruit trees

Dong Nai is also the "headquarters" for various types of fruit trees in the Southeast region.

To date, Dong Nai City possesses over 90,000 hectares of fruit trees, with mangoes, rambutans, durians, and dragon fruits accounting for more than 60%. Long Khanh rambutan and Tan Trieu pomelo are two types of fruits that received geographical indications quite some time ago. During the peak ripening season (from May to July annually), many local farmers have utilized the scenic beauty of the countryside during the harvest season to exploit orchard eco-tourism. Accordingly, visitors can explore, sightsee, and experience the fruit orchards while learning about modern cultivation techniques and enjoying the green space.

To maintain and develop efficient fruit farming zones, at the end of 2025, the Provincial People's Committee (now the City People's Committee) of Dong Nai issued Plan No. 206/KH-UBND on the development of key fruit trees and industrial crops in Dong Nai for the 2025-2030 period. Accordingly, by 2030, the total fruit tree area in the city is oriented to reach approximately 126,000 hectares with an output of 3.15 million tons per year. For the five key fruit trees alone (pomelo, durian, jackfruit, mango, and banana), the total area by 2030 will reach over 94,000 hectares with an output of over 2 million tons per year.

The country's largest exporter of cashew products

In the cultivation sector, along with fruit trees, Dong Nai is also the land of industrial crops such as pepper, rubber, cashew, and coffee, with a total area of over 500,000 hectares. According to the city's development plan, by 2030, the entire city will retain over 420,000 hectares dedicated to these industrial crops. The city also orientates development for each type of crop, focusing on forming concentrated production zones.

Cashew trees represent one of the crops with the largest cultivation areas in Dong Nai nationwide. Furthermore, Dong Nai registers the highest cashew export volume in the country (accounting for nearly 50% of the nation's total cashew export volume). Given the unique quality of the cashew nuts, in 2018, cashew products from Dong Nai (the former Binh Phuoc province) were granted a geographical indication. This demonstrates that the cashew nuts have established a position in the international market for a long time.

Currently, the entire city has nearly 150,000 hectares of cashews, with an output of over 247,000 tons per year. For this crop, the city is still steering toward expanding the cultivation area with the goal of reaching 163,000 hectares by 2030, increasing output to over 293,000 tons per year. Concentrated production zones are located across 14 communes and wards within the city, such as Xuan Hoa, Xuan Loc, Dinh Quan, La Nga, Bu Gia Map, Phu Rieng, Dong Phu, among others.

To elevate exported cashew nuts, enterprises continue to invest in upgrading equipment and processing technology for cashew kernels, intensifying deep processing, and enhancing the value chain. They are diversifying processed products from cashew trees, such as refining oil from cashew nut shells, producing alcohol from cashew apple juice, and manufacturing plywood from cashew wood and shell residue, step-by-step raising the deep processing rate of cashew kernels to 25-30%.

The "white gold" land of the East

With a total area of over 285,000 hectares yielding an annual output of over 468,000 tons, Dong Nai's rubber trees also lead the country, concentrated in communes and wards such as Hon Quan, Dong Phu, Loc Ninh, and Xuan Duong.

In Dong Nai, rubber trees are not merely an industrial crop but are also viewed as a symbol of vitality and prosperity for the Southeast land. For decades, rubber trees have sustained multiple generations of residents, creating jobs for tens of thousands of workers.

If given the opportunity to visit the land of Dong Nai or pass through routes such as National Highway 20, National Highway 13, or inner-city roads, visitors can admire the vast rubber forests stretching across the red basalt soil. In particular, during the leaf-changing season, the rubber forests undergo periods where the leaves turn color and drop, creating a distinctive and unforgettable imagery for anyone who witnesses it.

The livestock "capital"

If Dong Nai's industrial parks, rubber forests, and lush green fruit orchards are dubbed the country's "capitals," the livestock sector is by no means inferior in terms of large-scale production and high-tech applications, playing an important role in the national food supply chain.

Following the merger, Dong Nai City holds an even greater advantage as it consistently maintains its position as the livestock "capital" of the country. The city possesses a total pig herd ranking among the top nationwide with nearly 4.2 million heads, and a total poultry herd of approximately 36,500,000 heads. Dong Nai also holds advantages in attracting investment into animal feed production, the production and trading of various breeding livestock, as well as veterinary medicine store networks. This not only meets local livestock demands within the city but also supplies many provinces and cities across the country. To date, the city has formed value chain linkages and safe livestock product consumption, which not only perform well in the domestic market but also participate in exporting.
