Dong Nai City is emerging as one of the localities with highly favorable conditions to develop its logistics services sector. With dozens of large-scale industrial zones, the demand for cargo transportation, warehousing, and import-export is continuously rising, creating massive headroom for the logistics industry to grow.

In particular, the locality possesses numerous dynamic infrastructure projects with national connectivity. Among them, Long Thanh International Airport is highly expected to become a global aviation gateway; Phuoc An deep-water seaport directly connects to the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster; and the system of inter-regional expressways, the North-South railway line, along with major hub stations are gradually being finalized.

Furthermore, the Hoa Lu International Border Gate system alongside other main and secondary border gates connecting with Cambodia opens up opportunities to form cross-border trade corridors, boosting the circulation of both domestic and international goods.

These advantages are evaluated as an important foundation for Dong Nai to develop modern logistics centers, step-by-step becoming a cargo transit hub for the Southern region and the entire nation.

Building a Modern and Synchronized Logistics Ecosystem

Despite its vast potential, reality shows that Dong Nai's logistics service sector has not yet developed commensurately with the economic growth rate and corporate demands.

The infrastructure system serving transportation and cargo import-export has received investment, but interconnected connectivity remains limited. Logistics costs are still high, affecting the competitiveness of both manufacturing enterprises and service providers.

According to experts, against the backdrop of a series of strategic infrastructure projects being deployed, Dong Nai's logistics development cannot merely stop at constructing more warehouses or connecting traffic routes. What is more critical is to form a modern logistics system capable of effectively serving the entire supply chain from production and transportation to cargo distribution.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director General of the Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, remarked that Dong Nai holds an important position on the Vietnam logistics map. Given that the Strategy for the Development of Vietnam's Logistics Services for the 2025–2035 period, with a vision to 2050, has been issued, the locality needs to construct a synchronized logistics planning that aligns with the nation's general development orientation.

Long Hung Bridge, expected to be completed in 2028, will serve as a strategic connecting link between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai City.

According to the Director of the Dong Nai Department of Industry and Trade Vu Ngoc Long, the key element in logistics planning is ensuring connectivity instead of isolated development. A logistics center can only truly maximize its efficiency when positioned within an interconnected network of transport, production, and cargo consumption.

Currently, Dong Nai City is implementing its logistics development planning and wishes to continue receiving contributions of opinions from experts, professional associations, and the business community to formulate practical solutions.

From a business perspective, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Logistics Association, stated that the majority of logistics enterprises in the area are still small in scale, lacking leading enterprises capable of driving the market. Linkages and cooperation to exploit cargo sources among enterprises remain restricted.

According to Mr. Hung, to build a sustainable logistics ecosystem, Dong Nai needs to promote linkages among service-providing enterprises, thereby optimizing costs, enhancing cargo exploitation efficiency, and increasing competitiveness for the entire sector.

With an increasingly comprehensive infrastructure foundation, alongside a determination for methodical planning and connection-oriented development, Dong Nai stands before a major opportunity to turn logistics into a spearhead economic sector, contributing to raising competitiveness and creating a new growth driver for the locality in the coming period.
