Strong economic growth

Building on the growth momentum of 2025, Dong Nai's economy continued to record many positive results during the first six months of 2026. Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) reached 9.81%, exceeding the planned scenario and providing an important foundation for the city to achieve double-digit economic growth in 2026. The industry and construction sector remained the main growth driver with an increase of 11.84%; industrial production grew by 11.75%; the service sector expanded by 8.57%; while agriculture, forestry, and fisheries increased by 4.86%. These key economic pillars continued to operate steadily and contributed significantly to overall growth.

During the first six months of the year, export turnover reached USD 17.1 billion, up 17.6% year-on-year, while imports totaled USD 12.9 billion, an increase of 20.3%, resulting in a trade surplus of approximately USD 4.2 billion. Despite ongoing uncertainties in the global market, these results demonstrate the manufacturing capacity, adaptability, and competitiveness of businesses in Dong Nai. Investment attraction also remained a highlight, with approximately USD 1.5 billion in foreign investment and over VND 852.5 trillion in domestic investment, far exceeding the annual target. More than 4,500 new enterprises were established during the first six months, with total registered capital exceeding VND 225 trillion.

Alongside economic achievements, cultural, social, healthcare, education, and social welfare sectors continued to receive strong attention and investment. Nine social housing projects, totaling more than 12,000 apartments, were launched during the first six months. After one year of implementation, the two-tier local government model has been operating smoothly, effectively, and stably. The city has completed organizational restructuring toward a leaner administrative system, reducing 50% of specialized agencies at the city level and 45% of departmental units, while also consolidating the civil service workforce and finalizing job positions.

Taking greater responsibility in managing sectoral development

At the conference, leaders of departments, agencies, and localities presented the achievements made during the first half of the year in their respective sectors and areas, while proposing solutions to accelerate development and accomplish the year's objectives.

Speaking at the conference, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Council Dang Minh Nguyet stated that during the recently held third session of the Dong Nai City People's Council, many delegates acknowledged the city's achievements in socio-economic governance and development. The City People's Council also conducted supervisory activities and collected voters' opinions on issues related to the city's development, using these as a basis for recommending solutions to relevant agencies and the City People's Committee.

To achieve double-digit economic growth, synchronized efforts from all levels of government, sectors, businesses, and residents will be required during the remaining six months of the year. Priority should be given to improving growth management and accelerating public investment disbursement, allocating sufficient resources for land clearance and resettlement, and prioritizing funding for projects capable of rapid implementation. At the same time, stronger support should be provided to businesses in production and business activities, while policies for developing a high-quality workforce across various sectors should continue to receive attention.

The city also marked a historic milestone by officially being upgraded from a province to a centrally administered city, opening a new chapter in its development journey. In addition, the Executive Committee of the Dong Nai City Party Committee launched a special 500-day emulation campaign under the theme: "Solidarity – Discipline – Efficiency – Breakthrough: Building Dong Nai into a Civilized and Modern City." The campaign serves as a call for the entire political system to act collectively, embrace innovation, and create new momentum for the city's development.

He emphasized that every agency and unit must demonstrate greater responsibility and initiative in fulfilling their assigned tasks.

The Chairman also called for stronger promotion of Dong Nai's image to domestic and international partners, thereby enhancing the city's attractiveness and competitiveness in socio-economic development.
