Dong Nai Maintains Fourth Position in Economic Scale
In the first six months of 2026, the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) of Dong Nai City is estimated to have increased by 9.81% compared with the same period last year. The city’s GRDP at current prices over the past six months is estimated at more than VND 359.7 trillion, up over VND 47 trillion compared with the same period in 2025. Dong Nai ranks fourth nationwide in terms of economic scale.

These results were achieved thanks to the strong leadership and direction of the City Party Committee and the City People’s Committee; the synchronized coordination of authorities at all levels and sectors; and the efforts of the business community to overcome difficulties, contributing to maintaining and developing production and business activities across the city. The material and spiritual lives of residents have continued to improve. Social welfare has been ensured. National defense, security, and social order and safety have continued to be maintained.
Notable Economic Results
According to the city’s Statistics Office, with GRDP growth reaching 9.81%, Dong Nai has maintained a relatively high growth rate, showing that the city’s economy continues to recover positively, while production and business scale has been sustained and expanded.
Mr. Cao Dang Vien, Head of the Dong Nai City Statistics Office, stated that within the overall growth, the industry and construction sector made the largest contribution, with an increase of 11.84%. The industrial sector alone grew by 11.75%, continuing to affirm its role as a pillar of Dong Nai’s economy, especially processing and manufacturing. The construction sector maintained solid growth, reflecting the positive impact of public investment, infrastructure projects, urban development, and the city’s demand for expanded socio-economic development space.
Mr. Cao Dang Vien, Head of the Dong Nai City Statistics Office, said that the city is currently paying close attention to the service sector. In the first six months of the year, this sector grew by just over 8%. The city is making efforts to implement solutions to further promote growth in this area.
Other growth drivers were also maintained, with the service sector increasing by 8.57%; agriculture, forestry, and fisheries by 4.86%; and product taxes minus subsidies by 8.3%. These results reflect the continued expansion of production, business activities, and consumption of goods and services, showing that Dong Nai has both maintained a solid growth pace and continued to expand its economic scale.
With its GRDP scale ranking fourth nationwide, Dong Nai’s economic structure continues to reflect the city’s development orientation toward industry, urbanization, logistics, and production-supporting services. Specifically, the industry and construction sector remains a highlight, accounting for 55.08%, with industry alone accounting for 50.5%.
In terms of state budget revenue, in the first six months of 2026, Dong Nai collected more than VND 57.4 trillion, reaching over 57% of the estimate assigned by the City People’s Council and increasing by nearly 29% compared with the same period last year. Domestic revenue continued to be the main source of the local budget, reaching more than VND 44.3 trillion, accounting for over 77% of total revenue and increasing by more than 32.4% year on year. Revenue from import-export activities reached over VND 13 trillion, up nearly 18%.
Regarding investment attraction, a representative of the Management Board of Industrial Parks and Economic Zones of the city said that as of June 19, total foreign investment reached nearly USD 1.5 billion, equivalent to more than 49% of the 2026 plan. Total domestic investment in the city reached more than VND 848 trillion, equivalent to around 530% of the 2026 plan.
Maintaining Growth Momentum
Alongside economic achievements, the material and spiritual conditions of residents have continued to improve. Labor, employment, and vocational training activities have been actively implemented. The healthcare sector has continued to carry out tasks related to protecting, caring for, and improving public health. Disease prevention and control have been implemented proactively, with no major outbreaks occurring.
Education and training have continued to receive strong investment attention from the city, especially in upgrading facilities, schools, classrooms, and developing schools that meet national standards. To date, the proportion of schools meeting national standards in the city has reached 71%. Universal education and illiteracy eradication continue to be maintained. The organization of the 10th-grade entrance examination and the 2026 High School Graduation Examination was carried out seriously, safely, and in accordance with regulations. Measures to ensure social order and safety have continued to be strengthened.
Despite the achievements, the city still faces several difficulties and challenges that require continued attention. Input costs, logistics costs, and interest rates continue to put pressure on businesses. Some industries and industrial products still face difficulties in production and consumption. The number of enterprises dissolved or temporarily suspending operations has continued to increase.
Assessing the achieved results and analyzing Dong Nai’s development potential in the last six months of the year to complete the targets for 2026, Mr. Cao Dang Vien, Head of the Dong Nai City Statistics Office, stated that Dong Nai’s economy grew by 9.81% in the first six months. According to the scenario target set by the City People’s Committee, Dong Nai aims to achieve minimum growth of 10% in 2026. Based on available growth drivers such as agriculture, industry, especially the construction sector as Dong Nai has recently launched a series of key projects across the city, and the industrial sector, Dong Nai is expected to grow by over 10% in the second half of the year.
