This marks the ninth consecutive year that Dong Nai has maintained its position among the top 10 localities nationwide in terms of e-commerce performance.

Expanding E-commerce

In recent years, the e-commerce market in Dong Nai has continued to expand. The city has proactively implemented various action programs and specific plans to promote the development of the digital economy, including e-commerce.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in terms of scale and component indicators, the most notable highlight in the growth picture lies in transaction indicators, which reflect vibrant commercial activity across the locality. In particular, the B2C transaction index, representing business-to-consumer activity, ranked sixth nationwide. This demonstrates the active participation of residents in online shopping and the strong responsiveness of businesses in developing digitalized retail channels. Meanwhile, the B2B transaction index, representing business-to-business activity, ranked seventh nationwide. This serves as evidence of effective connectivity and trade within the domestic supply chain through digital platforms.

Regarding technical infrastructure, as of the end of May 2026, according to data from the management portal of the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dong Nai City had 262 websites registered for sales and service provision, along with 22 applications for sales and service provision. In addition, the ecdn.vn platform has attracted 60 booths with 310 products, including 100 OCOP products under the One Commune One Product Program, and has been connected as a sub-platform within the hangviet.vn system managed by the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency.

Mr. Tran Duong Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, shared that to promote local e-commerce development, the department has implemented a synchronized strategy based on four key pillars, including institutional and strategic solutions, infrastructure and digital platform development, human resource training, and strengthening state management. In addition, for non-cash payment activities, the Department of Industry and Trade has organized “non-cash payment fairs” and promoted digital payments at shopping centers, supermarkets, petrol stations, and traditional markets. To date, 100% of modern distribution facilities in the locality have implemented non-cash payment solutions.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Phong, Vice Chairman and Head of the Southern Representative Office of the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM), stated that Dong Nai has a particularly strong foundation for e-commerce development. Since April 30, 2026, Dong Nai has become the seventh city in the country, with a population of nearly 5 million. Dong Nai has long been known as an industrial hub, with Long Thanh International Airport, a developed system of industrial parks, and Phuoc An Port. One of Dong Nai’s core advantages is its well-developed manufacturing and logistics activities.

“In my view, this is also the direction for promoting e-commerce development. If e-commerce has traditionally been measured by how much consumers can buy, Dong Nai should set a target based on how much Vietnamese-made goods it can sell to the world. This is an ideal place to transform manufacturing capacity into digital exports under Vietnamese brands,” Mr. Nguyen Tan Phong emphasized.

Strengthening Business Support Activities

One of the key activities and solutions for local e-commerce development is supporting businesses in expanding e-commerce channels and training human resources in this field. Over the past period, the Department of Industry and Trade has organized many specialized training conferences, such as livestreaming OCOP products and outstanding rural industrial products, as well as organizing non-cash payment fairs combined with livestream sales. At the same time, the department has coordinated training programs focused on digital store operation skills, livestreaming, product storytelling, and the effective application of platforms such as TikTok Shop and Shopee for sales.

Mr. Vo Van Manh Em, Deputy Director of Domilk Joint Stock Company in An Phuoc Commune, said that the company places strong emphasis on market development. In addition to traditional market development channels, the company has also strengthened solutions to promote e-commerce, actively participated in various trade connection and trade promotion activities, and developed retail channels for its products.

Mr. Tran Duong Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, further stated that supporting local businesses and OCOP entities is a top priority for the industry and trade sector in the local e-commerce development process. In the coming period, the Department of Industry and Trade will implement specific solution groups focusing on systematic and practical training. These will include in-depth training courses on digital business management and multi-channel sales for OCOP entities and small and medium-sized enterprises. The training content will cover livestreaming skills, short video production and editing, SEO optimization on e-commerce platforms, customer care, and information security.

Mr. TRAN DUONG HUNG, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, emphasized that the department will promote supply-demand connectivity and digital trade promotion, increase the organization of large-scale livestream sessions at the city’s trade promotion events to advertise and sell products, develop supply chain linkages, strengthen management and consumer rights protection, and coordinate with relevant authorities to strictly monitor activities in the digital environment.

In parallel, the Department of Industry and Trade will enhance technical support activities, develop digital branding, and guide and support businesses in designing professional brand identity systems, building high-quality product images, editing content, and listing products on major e-commerce platforms such as TikTok Shop, Shopee, and Lazada. It will also coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to apply QR codes for origin traceability to agricultural and OCOP products, thereby strengthening digital consumer trust.
