Dong Nai Welcomes a “Wave” of Global Buyers
In early September, hundreds of international retail groups and importers will be present in Ho Chi Minh City to seek sources of goods from Vietnam. The event takes place as many enterprises around the world continue to diversify their supply chains following fluctuations in global trade. For Dong Nai, a locality that has ranked among the country’s export leaders for many years, this is an opportunity for enterprises to directly approach major buyers, expand markets, and seek long-term contracts.
According to the Foreign Market Development Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, from September 3 to 5, 2026, the 2026 International Sourcing Expo will gather hundreds of retail groups, importing enterprises, and distribution systems from the United States, India, China, Brazil, and many other countries. They are not only looking for goods for short-term orders but also seeking to expand their supplier networks in Vietnam. This is a positive signal, showing that Vietnamese enterprises are increasingly drawing the attention of international corporations.
Notably, import demand closely aligns with Dong Nai’s strengths. Fresh fruits, processed foods, coffee, cashew nuts, pepper, wooden products, textiles and garments, footwear, and handicrafts are all among the categories sought by many buyers. If Dong Nai enterprises proactively connect with buyers and meet the specific requirements of each market, they will have the opportunity to enter major global distribution systems instead of exporting only through intermediaries.
The list of participating enterprises also shows that markets are expanding in multiple directions. Pagoda, one of China’s largest fruit retail groups with more than 6,000 stores, is seeking additional sources of high-quality fruit. India’s Reliance has demand for many products that are Dong Nai’s strengths, such as processed foods, coffee, cashew nuts, pepper, and textiles. Walmart from the United States continues to expand its supplier network for agricultural products, industrial goods, and handicrafts. These are all markets with strong and stable purchasing power if enterprises can build credibility.
However, seizing this opportunity requires enterprises to proactively meet the requirements of international retail groups. International buyers today are not only concerned about price, but also set clear requirements for quality, traceability, environmental standards, social responsibility, and the ability to fulfill stable orders. Many enterprises have good products but still miss opportunities because they have not fully met these standards.
Dong Nai has many advantages for participating in global supply chains. Each year, the locality produces more than 1 million tons of fruit, including high-output varieties such as bananas, durians, mangoes, rambutans, pomelos, and jackfruit. In addition, its pig and poultry herds are among the largest in the country and are developing toward concentrated, closed-loop farming models, creating abundant raw materials for processing and export.
What Dong Nai enterprises need now is preparation to capture these opportunities. In particular, enterprises must improve traceability systems and meet green standards. Once they can satisfy the requirements of international corporations, enterprises will not only gain more orders but may also become important “links” in global supply chains.
