Agricultural input quality, product output, maintaining production area codes, and capital demands… these were the practical issues raised by farmers at the Dialogue Conference between Dong Nai City People's Committee leaders and farmers in 2026.

More than just a forum for farmers to express their thoughts and aspirations, the conference demonstrated the government's determination to accompany them, resolve difficulties, and promote agricultural and rural economic development toward modernization and sustainability.

Farmers Express Many Thoughts and Aspirations

On June 24, the City People's Committee organized the 2026 Dialogue Conference between Dong Nai City People's Committee leaders and farmers under the theme "Application of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation in Agriculture." Many opinions focused on issues of particular concern to producers, such as agricultural input quality, building sustainable value chains, maintaining production area codes, capital support, and applying science and technology to production…

According to Mr. Ho Cong Trinh, a delegate from Tan Phu Ward, low-quality fertilizers, chemical pesticides, and various agricultural inputs are currently still circulating, causing damage to farmers and reducing the yield and quality of agricultural products. Given this reality, he hoped the city would continue to strengthen the management, inspection, and supervision of agricultural input businesses. Concurrently, it should step up communication and guidance to help citizens identify, select, and use products that ensure quality, safety, and suitability for production needs.

“Along with the involvement of state management agencies, citizens need to enhance their knowledge, choose products with clear origins, and avoid the mindset of chasing cheap prices that leads to using substandard agricultural products.”

Sharing the difficulties in collective economic activities, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thuong, Director of the Binh Long Durian Cooperative, stated: Farmers face not only hurdles regarding quality agricultural inputs but also a lack of investment resources, especially capital to expand production and apply technology. Therefore, he recommended that functional agencies continue to support the development of the collective economy toward an ecological, environmentally friendly direction, and create conditions for cooperatives to access science, technology, digital transformation, and support policies to improve competitiveness.

Regarding the issue of production area codes and consumption linkage, Mr. Nguyen Huu Long, Director of the Long Phu Durian Cooperative (in Long Ha Commune), said: The cooperative has been granted a production area code and previously exported products successfully at stable prices. However, recently, there has been a phenomenon where some businesses purchase floating goods without going through designated production areas, which affects units that operate methodically.

“I request that functional agencies strengthen inspections and supervision over agricultural export activities; support cooperatives in building labels and traceability to assert product quality and protect the reputation of genuine production units,” Mr. Long petitioned.

In addition, delegates also suggested that the State should promote its central role in guiding, coordinating, and supervising value chains from production to consumption; invest in raw material area infrastructure, and resolve bottlenecks in land and production planning to create conditions for enhancing agricultural product value and stabilizing output for citizens.

The Government Is Ready to Accompany Farmers

In response to the farmers' recommendations, representatives from various departments and sectors directly exchanged and clarified many related contents.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Le Thi Anh Tuyet, stated: Regarding the issue of low-quality agricultural inputs, the department will continue to coordinate with relevant units to strengthen inter-agency, unexpected, and regular inspections of agricultural input businesses. Besides the involvement of functional agencies, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment requested that citizens proactively report in a timely manner when detecting counterfeit or low-quality goods so that management agencies have a basis for inspection and handling.

Regarding the construction of value chains, according to Ms. Tuyet, nearly 500 production and consumption linkage chains for agricultural products have been formed across the locality. However, many cooperatives have still not been able to access reputable enterprises. To remedy this situation, the agricultural sector will coordinate with localities to strengthen connections between enterprises and cooperatives, control input quality and production processes to ensure products meet the requirements of both domestic and export markets. On the other hand, cooperatives need to learn from each other's experiences, step up organic-oriented production, and utilize local raw material sources to reduce costs and increase product value.

“Specialized agencies will continue to boost inspections and examinations into the management and utilization of production area codes; encourage cooperatives to build traceability tag systems to enhance transparency and protect product brands,” Ms. Le Thi Anh Tuyet stated.

Regarding bank loans, Mr. Nguyen Duc Lenh, Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam - Region 2, said: The banking sector is deploying many preferential credit policies for the agricultural and rural sectors. In Dong Nai, outstanding loans for the agricultural and rural sectors account for a large proportion of total outstanding credit. The banking sector will continue to coordinate with the locality to connect capital sources, advise, and resolve difficulties, creating conditions for farmers and cooperatives to access appropriate credit policies to serve production development.
