In recent times, ACV has proactively worked with domestic and international airlines and relevant partners on operational plans and scenarios for Long Thanh Airport. At the same time, ACV has organized multiple field survey delegations at the project construction site. Through these working sessions, most domestic and international airlines expressed strong interest and a desire to participate in operations at Long Thanh Airport once it is put into service.
Specifically, ACV has worked with Vietravel Airlines on its commercial operation plan at Long Thanh Airport from the end of 2026 and its plan to increase flight frequency from the 2027 summer flight schedule. In addition, ACV has also actively worked with Vietjet Air and Vietnam Airlines on operation plans at Long Thanh Airport. Through the discussions, Vietjet Air committed to maintaining the operation of at least two international routes at Long Thanh Airport during Phase 1. Vietnam Airlines proposed transferring several international routes from Tan Son Nhat Airport to Long Thanh Airport, accounting for around 12% of the airline’s international flights.
In addition, ACV has discussed space allocation plans to serve Vietnam Airlines and Vietnam Airport Ground Services Company Limited (VIAGS), including check-in counter areas, kiosks, self-service baggage drop areas, departure gates, baggage carousels, Premium Check-in Lounge, international CIP Lounge, and domestic CIP facilities. For the trial operation phase before commercial operations begin, ACV has also requested Vietnam Airlines to coordinate and support aircraft for operational testing.
For foreign airlines, Long Thanh Airport and the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board have coordinated to welcome and work with representatives of SGN AOC, the Airline Operators Committee at Tan Son Nhat Airport, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and representatives of 34 international airlines, including Korean Air, All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Japan Airlines, to discuss and prepare operational plans for Long Thanh Airport as scheduled.
Alongside operational preparations, ACV has also accelerated market promotion activities and expanded the international route network. In early June 2026, ACV coordinated the organization of the “Vietnam - China Aviation and Tourism Connectivity” program, with the participation of representatives from regulatory agencies, local authorities, aviation enterprises, tourism companies from the two countries, travel agencies, and reputable charter flight operators in the local market.
