Timely financial support has enabled many agricultural production models to develop further, helping families increase their incomes while contributing to the sustainable development of the rural economy.
The Joy of Receiving Loans
In late June and early July, the atmosphere at Farmers’ Support Fund disbursement sites across the communes became more vibrant than usual. The faces of farmers reflected both joy and anticipation as they signed loan agreements to invest in production. For them, these loans represent not only financial assistance but also the continued support and encouragement of the Farmers’ Association for those who work tirelessly in the fields and on their farms.
One of the beneficiaries, Nguyen Anh Thi, 51, from Xuan Phu Commune, received a VND 100 million loan from the Farmers’ Support Fund and could not hide his excitement. His family has raised breeding goats for many years. However, due to limited capital, he had only been able to raise around 10 goats per breeding cycle, preventing him from expanding as planned. This time, the VND 100 million loan will allow his family to increase the size of the herd.
As of April 2026, the city had 167 loan groups with more than 2,700 Farmers’ Association members participating. As of June 3, 2026, the Dong Nai City Farmers’ Support Fund had reached nearly VND 318 billion, with outstanding loans totaling nearly VND 260 billion, benefiting nearly 5,500 households through more than 1,100 group-based production linkage projects.
"In recent years, breeding goats has generated a good source of income for my family. With additional capital, we will confidently invest in expanding production, create more jobs for family members, and hopefully enjoy a more stable income," Mr. Thi said.
The same excitement was shared by Le Phuc Hau, 26, also from Xuan Phu Commune. His family has been raising goats for more than 10 years and currently maintains a herd of over 30 goats while gradually building experience in breeding and livestock management.
According to Mr. Hau, his long-held goal has been to develop an organic goat farming model to produce clean food that meets growing consumer demand. However, transitioning to organic farming, investing in breeding stock, and upgrading livestock facilities all require significant capital. Receiving the loan will enable his family to expand the herd and invest in organic farming as planned. It is also an opportunity to increase household income, repay the loan, and continue expanding production.
The same joy was evident on the face of Ha Thi Hoa, 57, from Dau Giay Ward, as she signed for a VND 100 million loan. For her family, this is a substantial amount of money with special significance as they plan to upgrade nearly one hectare of rambutan orchards to VietGAP standards. However, improving the orchard, investing in fertilizers and irrigation systems, and implementing VietGAP production practices all require considerable funding.
"I am very grateful to the local authorities and the Farmers’ Association for always caring about farmers and giving us better opportunities to develop our family economy while contributing to local economic growth," Ms. Hoa shared.
Supporting Farmers for Sustainable Development
According to Le Ngoc Hai, Chairman of the Xuan Phu Commune Farmers’ Association, most loan recipients already have established farming, livestock, or crop production models. Therefore, the Farmers’ Support Fund serves as additional capital to help them expand production and improve economic efficiency.
Mr. Hai said the locality is pleased to continue receiving support from the Dong Nai City Farmers’ Association through additional funding for its members. In the coming period, the commune Farmers’ Association will continue surveying actual demand and connecting with other funding sources to enable more farming households to access preferential credit. At the same time, local authorities encourage borrowers to use the funds for their intended purposes, maximize investment efficiency, and fulfill their repayment obligations on time.
According to Do Phuoc Dung, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai City Farmers’Association, the fund has contributed to increasing the added value and competitiveness of local crops and livestock, helping establish specialized farming areas and high-value agricultural products suitable for export and adapted to the natural conditions of each locality.
During the first six months of 2026, the Dong Nai City Farmers’ Association disbursed 80 loan projects funded by the city budget and eight projects financed through mobilized resources, with a total value of VND 52.4 billion, enabling many members to expand production and develop effective economic models.
In addition to the Farmers’ Support Fund, the Dong Nai City Farmers’ Association has effectively implemented entrusted lending programs for poor households and policy beneficiaries through the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies. At the same time, the association and the Dong Nai City Women's Union signed an inter-sectoral cooperation agreement with Agribank branches to implement credit policies supporting agriculture, farmers, and rural development.
According to Mr. Do Phuoc Dung, in the coming period, the Dong Nai City Farmers’ Association will continue appraising and disbursing Farmers’ Support Fund projects, strengthen inspection and supervision to ensure loans are used effectively and for their intended purposes, focus on resolving overdue debts, and develop a roadmap for settling long-standing outstanding loans. At the same time, the association will review the fund's growth in 2026 and prepare fundraising and disbursement plans for 2027.
Thanks to loans being disbursed at the right time, many farming households have been able to turn long-held plans into reality. As a result, farmers are confidently investing in production, improving efficiency, and gradually building prosperity on their own land.
