Ready for the Admission Season

On July 1, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) announced the results of the 2026 High School Graduation Examination, while the Department of Education and Training officially approved the list of candidates eligible for graduation. This is the necessary and sufficient condition for candidates to proceed to the next stage of applying for admission to universities.

In the 2026 admission season, universities in Dong Nai City are expected to enroll nearly 10,000 students. These candidates come not only from Dong Nai but also from many other provinces and cities.

University Admission in Dong Nai

Dr. Nguyen Van Toan, Vice Rector in charge of Dong Nai University, said that in 2026, the university plans to recruit 3,167 students for full-time undergraduate and college-level programs, including 2,338 undergraduate students and 829 college-level students. Specifically, Dong Nai University will continue to strengthen admissions for pedagogical disciplines, which are the university’s traditional strength, with a total of 1,887 enrollment quotas at both undergraduate and college levels. The university expects that attracting enough students to pedagogical majors will be relatively favorable, as demand for this field remains high.

In 2026, the university will continue recruiting students for undergraduate-level pedagogical majors including History, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. This is also the second year that the university has enrolled students in Natural Science Pedagogy, a program aligned with the reforms under the 2018 General Education Program. For non-pedagogical disciplines, the university will maintain admissions for programs including English Language, Business Administration, Accounting, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering, with a total of 1,280 undergraduate quotas.

In 2026, Lac Hong University plans to enroll 2,708 full-time undergraduate students across 37 majors. This is also the year in which the university has set its highest enrollment target to date. The university’s strength lies in its diverse range of academic programs for candidates to choose from, including strong fields such as economics, technology, engineering, and languages. Notably, in 2026, the university will introduce three new majors: Information Security, Psychology, and Industrial Management.

Dr. Doan Manh Quynh, Vice Rector of Dong Nai Technology University, said that in the 2026 admission season, the university plans to enroll 2,280 full-time undergraduate students across 22 majors and 34 specializations. The university’s admission and training orientation is to continue focusing on emerging technology fields, the digital economy, and international management. This direction aims to anticipate major opportunities as Dong Nai officially becomes a city, along with infrastructure breakthroughs from Long Thanh International Airport, seaport systems, inter-regional logistics, and new-generation industrial parks.

Competition to Attract Candidates

The 2026 university admission season is expected to remain highly competitive, not only among universities in Dong Nai but also with universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Four universities and two university branches in Dong Nai are expected to enroll nearly 10,000 students. This enrollment target is considered substantial, equivalent to nearly one-fifth of the total number of students in Dong Nai City who are eligible for high school graduation recognition in 2026.

According to surveys conducted by universities in Dong Nai, in previous years, only around 20% of Dong Nai candidates chose to study at universities in Dong Nai after graduating from high school, while the majority chose universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Conversely, universities in Dong Nai have attracted a relatively large number of students from other provinces and cities, especially from the South Central Coast and Central Highlands regions. In addition, there are also students from northern provinces.

Dr. Nguyen Van Trung, Director of Admissions and Public Relations at Lac Hong University, said that in recent years, although student recruitment has become highly competitive, the university has developed its own approach and has successfully fulfilled its assigned enrollment targets. First of all, the university has diversified its admission methods, provided maximum scholarship support for students, and maintained stable tuition fees. In addition, the university offers support policies for dormitory accommodation, skills training, and opportunities for students to gain practical experience, internships, and future employment.

Dr. Nguyen Trong Trung, Vice Rector of Mien Dong University of Technology, said that the university applies multiple admission methods, including admission based on high school academic records, high school graduation examination scores, competency assessment test scores, and direct admission, aiming to enroll 1,500 full-time undergraduate students. In addition, the university has introduced new incentive policies to attract candidates, such as entrance scholarships, tuition support, and dormitory fee support during the first year of admission.

Dong Nai Technology University has also introduced incentive policies to create favorable conditions for candidates living far from the city center. Students enrolling at the university with household registration in the northern area of Dong Nai City will receive a 20% tuition reduction for the first semester and free dormitory accommodation during their first academic year.
