The goal is to automate processes, optimize costs, enhance customer experience, and strengthen competitive advantages.
Accelerating Digital Transformation
In recent years, businesses and organizations across Đồng Nai City have increasingly invested in science and technology, digital transformation, and innovation to improve labor productivity and business efficiency. These efforts contribute significantly to the development of the local digital economy.
Nguyễn Quốc Minh, Director of Co.opmart Đồng Xoài Supermarket, said that the supermarket focuses on integrating multiple payment methods, shopping applications (apps), and online services to foster sustainable digital consumer habits. Diversifying digital payment options not only accommodates the varying needs of different customer groups but also promotes the development of a comprehensive digital retail ecosystem. Regarding technical infrastructure, the supermarket currently operates more than 40 POS terminals capable of handling large transaction volumes while ensuring stability and security.
Similarly, Nguyễn Thị Huyền Trang, Director of An Phú Trường Thịnh Co., Ltd. (Tam Hiệp Ward), shared that the company has prioritized digital transformation in operating its passenger transportation services. At the same time, it has promoted digital banking payment solutions to optimize customer convenience while expanding ticket booking and multi-channel payment options through its website and online ticketing platforms, thereby enhancing the overall customer experience.
Many businesses in Đồng Nai have proactively implemented AI and advanced technologies into their production and business activities to automate management processes and optimize production and supply chains.
Bì Long Hồng Phúc, an IT specialist at Chính Nam Construction Design Joint Stock Company (Trấn Biên Ward), said that the company currently utilizes various AI solutions such as Agentic AI, Claude Co-work, and ChatGPT Work to design and streamline internal workflows, including electronic invoice processing, image processing, and corporate content creation. According to him, AI adoption has significantly improved productivity, operational efficiency, and the effectiveness of numerous management processes.
In the food and beverage (F&B) industry, besides expanding digital payment options and online ordering through e-commerce platforms and social media, many restaurants and cafés have also introduced service robots to enhance customer experiences.
Thảo Linh, a resident of Tam Hiệp Ward, shared, "Recently, I've noticed many restaurants using service robots to automatically deliver food and drinks. These robots also feature interactive digital menu displays, creating a fresh and engaging dining experience for customers."
Expanding E-commerce Development
In recent years, Đồng Nai's e-commerce market has continued to expand rapidly. The city has proactively implemented various action programs and strategic plans to promote the digital economy, with e-commerce serving as one of its key development priorities.
Nguyễn Tấn Phong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) and Head of its Southern Representative Office, noted several prominent e-commerce trends in 2026. The first is shoppertainment—the integration of shopping and entertainment. Consumers increasingly open apps to watch videos, listen to music, or follow trends before making purchases directly within the content stream. Shopping no longer begins solely with a specific purchasing need. In addition, AI applications have become more sophisticated. AI is now used not only to recommend products or provide automated customer support but also to monitor livestreams in real time, detect policy violations, and promptly remove inappropriate content.
According to the Vietnam E-commerce Index (EBI) Report 2026 published by VECOM, Đồng Nai City achieved an EBI score of nearly 17.4 points, ranking sixth nationwide. Its Business-to-Consumer (B2C) transaction index also ranked sixth in the country. These results reflect the active participation of local consumers in online shopping and the strong capacity of businesses to develop digital retail channels.
To ensure the sustainable development of e-commerce amid rapidly changing market trends, Đồng Nai should focus on several key strategic initiatives. In terms of infrastructure, the city should invest in green logistics and smart warehousing while leveraging Long Thành International Airport and its industrial park network as gateways for digital exports. At the same time, efforts should be made to encourage a greater proportion of household businesses and small enterprises to adopt multi-channel sales models through training programs, financial incentives, and preferential support policies.
Trần Dương Hùng, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, stated that the department will continue implementing initiatives to support local businesses and OCOP (One Commune One Product) producers in expanding their e-commerce activities. These efforts will focus on improving digital infrastructure and workforce capacity while developing logistics infrastructure. The department will also coordinate with relevant agencies to review planning, resolve obstacles affecting investments in warehouses, distribution centers, and transportation systems in order to reduce logistics costs and optimize supply chains. In addition, it will promote supply chain integration and collaborate with logistics providers to optimize transportation costs for small-scale shipments, creating affordable logistics packages tailored to the needs of cooperatives and household businesses.
